    Qualifications also available:

    Who is this NVQ for?
This NVQs is a work-oriented qualification and is suitable for those who deliver and/or develop learning and development programmes and those who support learners.

    What is their purpose?
The aim of these qualifications is to recognise the skills and competences of candidates in the workplace. The qualifications provide individuals with an opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed for a career in delivering or supporting learning.

What are the benefits to the employer?
OCR’s NVQ in Learning & Development has been developed to recognise and reflect a candidate’s work. Each level of the qualifications recognises a candidate’s competence and ability in their everyday work and covers a diverse range of tasks and functions that are part of the learning sector.

    Employers will gain:

  • Better targeting and evaluation of learning and assessment opportunities
  • Improved staff performance
  • Increased skill levels
  • Improvements in the quality of service to learners and candidates
  • More highly motivated staff

  • How does this qualification improve career prospects?
The NVQ is a formal recognition of an employee’s work skills and abilities.

    Employees will gain:

  • A clear understanding of responsibilities
  • The opportunity to develop new skills
  • The recognition and continued development of existing skills
  • Opportunities to improve service to learners and candidates

  • What does taking the NVQ involve?
Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role. The first step is deciding whether this is the correct level to take. An assessor advises candidates, taking into account what they can already do and what they are aiming for. Together, the assessor and candidate work out the best mix of training, assessment and observation to fulfil all the requirements of the NVQ. There are no exams for an NVQ; instead, candidates collect evidence during the course of their normal work.
