Business & Administration Level 2 & 3:

    Qualifications also available:

    Who are these NVQs for?
These NVQs are work-oriented qualifications and are suitable for those who undertake administration related activities across all occupations and sectors of employment. They are open to candidates of either gender and there are no entry barriers on grounds of race, creed or previous academic attainment or learning.

    What is their purpose?
The aim of these qualifications is to recognise the skills and competences of candidates in the workplace. The qualifications provide individuals with an opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed for a career in business and administration. The units encompass a broad range of competencies from the administration sector.

What are the benefits to the employer??
OCR’s NVQ in Business Administration has been developed to recognise and reflect a candidate’s work. Each level of the qualifications recognises a candidate’s competence and ability in their everyday work and covers a diverse range of tasks and functions that are part of business and administration. Employers will gain:

  • Improved staff performance and motivation
  • Improvements in the quality of service to customers
  • The opportunity to improve customer retention levels

  • How does this qualification improve career prospects?
The NVQ is a formal recognition of an employee’s work skills and abilities. Employees will gain:

  • A clearer understanding of their responsibility within their organisation
  • The opportunity to develop new skills
  • The recognition of existing skills

  • What does taking the NVQ involve?
Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role. The first step is deciding whether this is the correct level to take. An assessor advises candidates, taking into account what they can already do and what they are aiming for. Together, the assessor and candidate work out the best mix of training, assessment and observation to fulfil all the requirements of the NVQ. There are no exams for an NVQ; instead, candidates collect evidence during the course of their normal work.

What is the structure of the OCR Level 2 NVQ in Business and Administration?
This qualification is very flexible in its structure enabling the organisation and individual to choose the optional units which best suit their work situation and job role. To achieve a full award, candidates must complete five units in total, from two mandatory units and three optional units which are chosen to suit the candidate’s and organisation’s training requirements.
