What is BuildingSite?

You’ve just been on a website created and managed with Igentics Buildingsite.

Buildingsite is a unique system developed by Igentics to bridge the gap between wizard generated websites, such as those created in Microsoft Frontpage and complex and expensive bespoke systems.

Using a modular template system driven by a highly efficient backend database Buildingsite offers much higher functionality to other systems, with the unique distinction of having a simple, user friendly content management system.

This means the customer does not need any programming knowledge; all they need is their opening content. Igentics then use Buildingsite to create the initial site, the customer can then use the simple management interface to control the site content and perform their own updates.

Using a straightforward modular system Buildingsite allows the customer to develop their site as their business needs grow. A standard building site package consists of four pages, these are typically.

• A 'Home' page
• A 'Products and services' page
• A 'Contacts' page

• A 'Feedback' page

The customer then uses the management interface to maintain these pages, allowing them to very easily update the content of the site ensuring it always looks fresh and up to date.

The site can then be expanded to add extra pages, marketing emailshots, user forums and additional catalogues.

The Buildingsite management interface offers a number of useful features
• Simple interface
• HTML upload of images (no ftp client needed)
• Add/edit publish/hide pages

The basic package also includes full support for catalogues, stock lists, menus etc. These can be nested and so will support price variants of items etc. The stock lists are maintained with a simple entry system and the ability to publish or unpublish an item so that if the item is temporarily unavailable it does not have to be deleted from the system.
Images are also easily uploaded into the system for simple integration into the site.

Additional modules
Mailshot support
This allows the user to register for email updates. These can be used to announce special offers, news items, important announcement etc.

Traffic analysis
By analysing who comes to a site, where they come from then how they interact with the site it is possible to refine the site design and content to ensure that visitors extract the maximum value from each visit and return regularly. Igentics uses this technology as part of larger developments and is currently investigating it’s integration to the Buildingsite system.
