I worked in animal hospitals for 7 years and I remember worrying about the poor injured cats and dogs when we weren't able to watch them 24 hours a day. DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine on fresh fish, while I'm forced to eat dry cereal! The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape and the satisfaction I get from shredding the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant and cough it up on the carpet. DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favourite chair...must try this on their bed (again). DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good cat I was...hmmm. Not working according to plan. I'm finally aware of how sardistic they are. For no reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time it included a foamy chemical called shampoo. What sick minds could invent such a liquid? My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth and the tiny bit of flesh under my claws. DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies". Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage. DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant. He has mastered their frightful tongue and speaks with them regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But, I can wait, it is only a matter of time..... I haven't had any accidents yet and I hope I never do, it really winds me up being stuck indoors just for the day while my humans are at work, I can't imagine what it would be like to be stuck in that cage all day every day for as long as you have. There is a cat near here who had a confrontation with a most unpleasant dog about two years ago. and was "laid up" for about six months. He's alright now, although somewhat overweight. He is white and called Arthur (no surprise there then!) and is a great favourite in the area. No doubt when you are back on your paws again and can get out and about, you will probably get the same sort of treatment. I must sign off as I have work to do. Instead of dashing towards the door as soon as it's opened, which just results in the door being shut immediately, adopt a more laid back approach. Just lay still, and pay it no attention and you'll soon find that the humans don't rush to shut the door. Then when they've become really relaxed about it you'll have loads of time to make your bid for freedom. 2. When you've got out immediately head for somewhere they can't reach you. They'll resort to all sorts of bribery to get you back in, most of which involve food. 3. When you're eventually recaptured, give in gracefully. No need to get in some unseemly struggle which you'll only loose in the end. Give them the impression that you were planning to go back anyway. With any luck there's more food waiting for you when you get back. 4. Keep trying! Have a good sleep Love George Frank says: Cheers George I heard your story on Radio 5 yesterday and was deeply moved, my cat Sam was run over nearly 5 years ago and he had tried to crawl towards the house just like Frank after the driver had left him in the road, but it was early morning and nobody spotted him until it was too late. We have too new cats now to join our elderley 14 yr old, but we still miss Sam dearly. Needless to say my heartfelt thoughts go out to Frank and I really wish him well in his recovery. He is completely mad and loves swinging from doors and used to run up me back and sit on my shoulder. He makes puddings on when I'min bed and used to bop me with his paw to wake me up in the morning! As luck would have it we have a LOT in common because when I was a youngster (back in 1994) I also got hit by one of those human contraptions called cars, and also broke my pelvis. Like yourself I was confined to a small cage, but that didn't stop me escaping and finding my way on to the patio where I could doze in the sun (it was July) - my owners were frantic when they realised I'd got out of my cage! Those little pills they gave me - something for the inflamation they said - were nasty. I kept spitting them out & trying to hide them in my bedding! On a lighter note - within 6 months I was chasing birds and squirrels, climbing trees and generally up to speed again. Is that a record? hello there Frank, My name is George (name supplied to me by my pet human) and I have just had your web site read to me by my pet human. I must say I do understand entirely how you feel, I have just spent a month in a place called "hospital" after being hit by one of those huge noisy monsters that our pets call cars. Like you I had both hips broken at the spinal joints. I also had my leg dislocated, my right hip joint fractured and my right leg broken in two places as well having a broken knee and torn ligaments. Despite all this the humans I was taken to (vets they call them) pinned and plated me back together. I have to say although I am still stiff and sore and learning to walk again, there are advantages ..... 1. if you look sad and cry a lot you get lots of delicious treats, 2. you don't have to go outside to do your business because the humans make arrangements for everything inside in the warm. 3. you get lots of soft cuddly blankets to lay on 4. you get to sleep whenever you want and everyone in the house has to be "careful not to disturb George", 4. you get even more cuddles and kisses than normal. 5. and on top of that if you get really bored just talk to them a lot and they run around all over the place trying to figure out what it is you want. You seem to be doing really well andare a very handsome boy! I have 8 cats of my own. The oldest named Domino, a beautiful black and white lady. Next is Mortisha - her name says it all!! Then come Murphy and Muesli, Murphy is Felix the Cat's absolute twin, and Muesli(his sister) is a very pretty torti with white feet. Last August Muesli became a teenage mother of 4, unfortunately all too gorgeous to part with - good job we've got a decent sized garden for them to charge around! - so, in order of birth, we have Golden Nugget,(following on from the 'Muesli' breakfast cereal theme!),who is a very handsome ginger tom, then Frostie, a white tom with a black tail and black eyebrows which are not quite level, giving him the appearance of a permanently surprised Roger Moore! Next is Cappuccino, a very pretty miniature of her mother, and lastly Sheridan, a black and white fruit loop of a girl. I know, you're thinking Shridan is an after dinner drink not a cereal, but we thought it described her better than Coco Pop!! They all send you lots of love, Frank, and say if you want a good 'runaround' when you're out of your cage, they'd love to have you over to play.You could even stay for tea - Whiskas sardine and trout is their current fave. Oh,by the way, Cappuccino recommends listening to Capital radio, but Nugget and Frostie say if you can get your paws on a telly then Match of the Day is really brilliant!
