Before my dad got me he had Priscilla.....one day Dad went golfing and she decided to cross the road and was hit by a car.....she laid in the ditch for seven days then decided she'd had enough and dragged herself across the street all the way home, covered in fleas and with a fractured back right leg, after surgery and a metal pin in her leg she lived to be 23 YEARS OLD!!!! Dad used to call her the Bionic Cat!!! Dad decided to get an apartment cat and that is where I live, on the ninth floor overlooking the mountains in Vancouver, Canada....life is good!! I had to stay in a cage for 6 weeks but I was soon back on my feet again. I still walk with a limp (it gets me sympathy) and my tail doesn't seem to work properly, but other than that I'm fine I hope you're fully recovered soon. The best I've managed is to get her to do is to freeze half of each tin she gets me so I get a new taste more or less every day (it depends on how quickly I eat the current flavour). When she gets to 6 tins she starts defrosting the other half of the tins. After all, having to wade through a whole tin is a bit boring isn't it? However, she does supplement the tins with real fish and meat at least once a week, so I suppose I shouldn't be too sniffy about the lack of Whiskas. My human and I listen to Radio 3 a lot and I've just got her to send a request to Listeners' Choice for you. I don't know if we'll have any success but if we do we'll let you know when it will be layed. My human said I ought to ask for the "Cats' duet" but then she told me it was just two humans trying to miaou like us, and I didn't think that sounded very sensible. She's not always very sensible, but then humans are like that aren't they, even quite well trained ones (and she is quite well trained really). I've attached a photo of me - I'm about 12 years old so plenty old enough to be your Granny really! This photo was taken just after we moved house and was one of the first times I was allowed out into the new garden. I love kitties, and when the baby I am having is old enough to not terrorize cats, we are going to rescue at least two from the pound (this is what we also call animal shelters over here in America). My daughter, Anne (who would *love* to hear from a real live British kitty cat!) misses our two cats, who went to heaven when she was not quite 4. But you mustn't feel sad - one of them was almost 17, and they were both rescued from certain death on the streets. I am glad to see that you are also being cared for, and if you are loved half as much as ours were, you are a lucky puss indeed! Thats not very nice! Hello Frank. I am a neutered Orange Tom who broke a bone in his pelvis in a similar manner. I had to spend 4 weeks or so in a cage too. I was a proper Tom then and wanted to go off on more travels. My mum and dad asked the vet if it was o.k to let me wander about in the kitchen a little bit to ease thte boredom-and as long as they were there to stop me jumping up -it was o.k. Mostly just 10 minutes to lie down somewhere elseand say hello to my sister. Then back in the cage to rest. Maybe my break wasn't so bad as yours... also when it was warm they could put my cage in the garden and sat with me. Near the end they walked around the garden with me on a lead. That was lovely-but they couldn't let me do it for long-especially since i was ready to go bounding off. I feel so much better now and climb all the trees in the garden as if nothing had ever happened. Ofcourse they asked the vet if it was o.k-he had a good look at me. The rest of the time i just tried to get some sleep. Hope you get well soon.
